The Prosecutor General’s Office proposed to introduce a tax on the extraction of precious metals, extracted along the way in other ores. The Ministry of Finance supported the idea “News”. The Ministry of Finance announced its support for the initiative of the Prosecutor General’s Office in a letter to the government signed by Deputy Minister Alexei Sazanov. The department told Izvestia that it was working on “possible options for improving the procedure for calculating and paying mineral extraction tax in the extraction of multicomponent complex ores, including those containing precious metals.” The Ministry plans to discuss this issue with interested departments and representatives of the business community.
According to the laws, only the extraction of minerals under a license is taxed, the experts explained. For precious metals produced by the way from dumps and waste, a preferential MET rate of 0% is applied. Georgy Ostapkovich, director of the HSE ISSEK Center for Market Research, believes that some companies can count on a large volume of such associated production.
