The Prosecutor General announced the growth of risks of sabotage and terrorist attacks in Russia

In Russia, the risks of sabotage and terrorist attacks have increased significantly, said Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.

“The risks of sabotage and terrorist acts, given the situation, have now increased significantly,” the Prosecutor General said in the Federation Council (a fragment from his statement published “News”).

Krasnov also focused on the fact that the priority remains the suppression of the facts of involvement in extremist and other illegal activities of young people. According to him, this is relevant, because of the 127 terrorist acts registered last year, 13 were committed with the participation of minors.

As the Prosecutor General noted, in 2022 Russia faced open interference in domestic politics, as well as attempts from outside to influence public sentiment and political processes. In order to sow panic and destabilize the situation, false reports of terrorist acts were sent to people, Krasnov added.

“At the initiative of the prosecutors, 23 foreign and international non-governmental organizations were declared undesirable, the activities of another 17, recognized as extremist and terrorist, are completely prohibited,” the prosecutor general said.

On April 11, FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov at a meeting of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC), of which he is chairman, declaredthat the Ukrainian special services, with the help of the West, are recruiting Russian citizens, including young people, to carry out sabotage and terrorist attacks. The director of the FSB noted that since February 2022, 118 crimes were prevented in Russia, the perpetrators of which were young people and teenagers, including minors.

Bortnikov also called the influence of the Columbine movement (recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation) and the Maniacs. The cult of murders” (MKU, recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation), because of which students are preparing armed attacks on schools. According to the director of the FSB, in some cases, coordination is carried out from the territory of Ukraine.

At the end of February 2023, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, during a speech by the expanded board of the FSB, set the task for the special service to stop the use of social networks to engage in terrorist and extremist activities. The head of state noted that the most vulnerable group is young people.
