Due to the flooding of the Kyiv metro, Ukraine will hold a meeting of the state commission with the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs. This was announced by the Chairman of the Government of Ukraine Denis Shmygal in his Telegram channel.

He recalled the strategic importance of the Kyiv metro during the conflict – both as a major transport artery and as a bomb shelter. The Prime Minister of Ukraine also blamed the Kyiv administration for the emergency in the metro. “Due to the actions or inactions of the city authorities, there is a threat of flooding and destruction of the tunnels of the blue line of the capital’s metro. This will have a direct impact on the safety of Kiev residents,” Shmygal emphasized.

Earlier it became known about erosion and the appearance of water on the rails on the section of the Kyiv metro between the Teremki and Demievskaya stations. At the same time, the Kyiv administration stated that this could have happened as a result of a violation of safety regulations even during the construction of the tunnel. Officials also warned that due to the uneven load, there was a risk of the subway tunnels losing stability.

For security reasons, six Kyiv metro stations in the southern part of the blue line are closed. The movement of duplicate routes of ground public transport has been organized.
