President Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that “people will support” the intention of the head of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, to be re-elected for a second term. The head of state stated this during a working meeting with the governor, which was announced on the official website of the Kremlin on Wednesday afternoon.

At the beginning of the conversation, Mr. Nikitin told the President about the socio-economic situation in his region. In particular, he said that the state defense order for key positions, including meeting the needs of the military operation, is being executed “properly”, despite the problems that arise “with the replacement of components and with changes in cooperation.” To solve problems with staffing, a regional personnel agency has been created, the governor reported. Gleb Nikitin also said that the mass closure of Nizhny Novgorod enterprises due to sanctions was avoided, and in agriculture and the construction industry, a record growth in 30 years was even recorded. “I see a lot of really interesting projects started, I see the potential for their completion.
