The authorities of Transnistria decided to ask the United States to help in the investigation of the assassination attempt on a number of officials of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic, including its President Vadim Krasnoselsky, which was prevented on March 9. According to Pridnestrovian investigators, the Security Service of Ukraine is behind the terrorist act being prepared, and both the OSCE members in Tiraspol and the US citizen could become victims of the terrorist act. On Monday, Krasnoselsky spoke via video link with the US Ambassador to Moldova, Kent Logsdon, and unexpectedly invited FBI specialists to join the investigation of terrorist attacks that were prevented in the unrecognized republic. Earlier, he called on all members of the UN Security Council to look into Ukraine’s preparations for a terrorist attack in Tiraspol.
The authorities of Transnistria are ready to provide the FBI with access to the entire evidence base collected and to provide full assistance to the intelligence officers. The reminder that the head of the OSCE mission in Moldova, American Kelly Kaiderling, could have suffered at the hands of Ukrainian terrorists sounded like an argument for cooperation.
Of course, the FBI’s investigation into the activities of saboteurs from the SBU in an unrecognized republic, including by Washington itself, which also has complicated relations with the West, looks fantastic. However, during the conversation, both sides were disposed to the further development of relations in various fields, including cultural.
The press service of Krasnoselsky noted that in Pridnestrovie, where representatives of 72 nationalities and nationalities live, they treat the traditions of various nations, including “classical American culture” with respect. The American ambassador to Moldova and the president of the PMR agreed to continue “rhythmic interaction.”
