The President of Somalia said that the Armed Forces of his country, as well as Kenya, Djibouti and Ethiopia, are preparing an offensive against the Al-Shabab group associated with Al-Qaeda (banned in the Russian Federation). In his opinion, the MTO still feels at ease in Somalia and has a chance to continue its activities.
Therefore, it is especially important to continue the fight against it in order to force the terrorists to sit down at the negotiating table.
The day before, the Minister of Defense of Somalia held a meeting with representatives of neighboring countries, at which the upcoming CTO in the southern regions of the country was discussed. The joint offensive against al-Shabaab should be the second phase of the struggle launched last year.
