Russian President Vladimir Putin called Ukraine’s counter-offensive “not a slip, but a failure”. He stated this at a joint press conference with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“As for the slipping of the counteroffensive [Украины], this is not a slip, this is a failure. At least that’s how it looks today. Let’s see what happens next. I hope that this will continue to be the case,” Putin said.
The President stressed that Russia has never refused negotiations. “And now we do not refuse, and Mr. President [Эрдоган] raised these questions today during our meeting. And I confirm this to him,” Putin added.
Active offensive operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been carried out since the beginning of June, however, according to the Russian authorities, the counteroffensive does not bring Kyiv to achieve its goals. Putin said earlier that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering heavy losses, and all enemy offensive attempts are being stopped.
