The President of Russia announced an increase in the share of the ruble when paying for exports to 42%

The share of the ruble when paying for Russian exports for 1.5 years increased from 12% to 42%. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.

“More and more payments are made in rubles and friendly currencies. For 1.5 years, the share of the ruble in paying for Russian exports has more than tripled – from 12 to 42%. And if we count together with the currencies of friendly countries, this share reaches 70%,” the head of state noted.

In April, the Bank of Russia informedthat the share of the ruble in export deliveries at the end of 2022 exceeded 30%, which was the result of a significant change in the country structure of foreign trade in favor of friendly countries. The regulator noted that after the transfer of payment for natural gas supplies to unfriendly countries into rubles in May 2022, the share of the national currency in export deliveries increased significantly, equaling the share of the US dollar and significantly exceeding the share of the euro.

Creation of a single unit of account, alternative to the dollar, discussed BRICS countries. Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that the countries of the association can create such a unit. According to him, it will not be a single currency, as in the EU, but a unit of account in which the cost of commodity deliveries, benchmarks for some goods can be expressed in order not to depend on a single currency.
