The relocation of Wagner PMC and its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin to Belarus is a “negative signal” for Poland, President of the Republic Andrzej Duda told reporters.
“These are negative signals for us, which we, of course, very much want to send to our allies,” leads his words “Polish Radio”.
In this regard, Duda recalled the decisions taken by NATO, in particular, to increase the military contingent in Eastern Europe.
An attempt at a military mutiny by PMC “Wagner” was made on the night of June 24. On the evening of June 23, Prigozhin published reports of a strike on the rear camps of the company and blamed the army for this. The Ministry of Defense called the information false and described it as a provocation. Already in the morning, Wagner controlled Rostov-on-Don, capturing all the military facilities of the city, after which the PMC began to advance towards Moscow.
On the evening of June 24, Prigozhin announced the stoppage of traffic to Moscow. The Kremlin reported that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko participated in negotiations to resolve the situation with the founder of the PMC. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov also said that as a result, an agreement was reached that the criminal case initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he would move to Belarus.
Today, June 27, Lukashenka confirmed that Prigozhin is in the republic. He noted that the security guarantees that Russian President Vladimir Putin promised Prigozhin had been provided. According to Lukashenka, the country will use the combat experience of PMCs. At the same time, the Belarusian president urged not to be afraid of PMC detachments, since Minsk “keeps its eyes open.”
