According to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, in the event that the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin or members of his group stay in Belarus with unclear plans and intentions, NATO will be forced to strengthen its eastern flank. This is reported by The Guardian.
Nausėda said more security was needed on the eastern borders, as Prigozhin and his units pose a potential threat. This statement was made after a meeting of the State Security Council of the republic, dedicated to the attempted rebellion in Russia.
The President also said that Lithuania would send additional intelligence resources to study the political situation in Belarus. He stressed that it is necessary to strengthen the defense not only on the territory of Lithuania, but also in the entire region.
