Power unit No. 3 of the Kola NPP yesterday, May 21, was turned off by automatics. The reasons are still unknown, the radiation background is normal.
“On May 21 at 11:16 Moscow time, power unit No. 3 of the Kola NPP was shut down by automation… The power unit was disconnected from the network in a safe mode in accordance with the design algorithms,” the management company said in a press release (quoted by RIA Novosti) .
Power units No. 1 and No. 2 are currently operating at the NPP, and scheduled preventive maintenance is being carried out at power unit No. 4. The station load is 660 MW.
Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom (part of Rosatom). The station is located 200 km south of Murmansk on the shores of Lake Imandra. There are 4 power units with a capacity of 440 MW each in operation.
Today, May 22, in the morning due to the disconnection of the line of the Dnieper power line, the power supply of the Zaporizhzhya NPP translated for diesel generators. The reason for the disconnection of the line is being investigated. ZNPP is also managed by Rosenergoatom.
