Polish President Andrzej Duda submitted to the country’s parliament the candidacy of current Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki for the post of head of the new government. Duda stated this in a televised address, transmits Newsweek.
“After calm analysis and consultation, I have decided to entrust the mission of forming a government to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki,” he said.
Parliamentary elections in Poland ended on October 15. According to their results, the Law and Justice party received 35.38% of the votes. Her main opponent, the center-right Civic Coalition, received 30.7% of the vote, thus finishing in second place. Next came the “Third Way”, a center-right voting bloc, with a result of 14.4% of the vote.
Morawiecki then called his party’s third victory in a row “historic.” According to him, the President of Poland will instruct him to form a government, since “this is the political tradition in Poland.”
