The restoration of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is a problem to be solved, Dmitry Kirillov, head of Rosvodresursov, told RIA Novosti.
He noted that it is technically possible to restore the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the Kakhovskoye reservoir. At the same time, according to him, decisions on this issue will be made after the formation of the necessary conditions.
Kirillov pointed out that there are different options for solving the problem of restoring the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP. At the same time, according to him, at the moment the issue of restoring the working capacity of the North Crimean and Kakhovskoye main canals is more urgent.
The head of the department pointed out that these canals are the main source of water supply for the agricultural sector of Kherson, Zaporozhye regions and Crimea.
On the night of June 6, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) on June 6 launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, destroying the upper part of the station. The dam was not damaged, however, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, as a result of which the leadership of the Kherson region was forced to announce the evacuation of the population from the flooded territories. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the destruction of the power plant provoked a large-scale environmental and humanitarian catastrophe. As a result, areas both controlled by Russia and those controlled by the Kiev regime were flooded.
Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, said that one of the goals of the bombing was connected with an attempt by Ukraine to deprive Crimea of water. And Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that Kyiv blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, as it weakened its positions in the Kherson direction, transferring troops to the offensive area.
