“The population did not ask for anything like this” – Kommersant FM

The deputies decided to protect residents of settlements with indecent names; a corresponding bill was prepared by the “New People” faction. The document, in particular, prohibits giving insulting and derogatory names to villages and towns. Local authorities are proposed to be allowed to rename such settlements independently, without bureaucratic delays. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize believes that the bill will not be adopted.

There is such a party in Russia, “New People,” and there is a faction of it in the State Duma. And so, apparently, the deputies decided to surprise their voters with a creative idea, to go on the warpath with, in their opinion, indecent names of Russian villages.

The question, by the way, is controversial, because these names, firstly, go back to ancient times. Secondly, the point is in the correct pronunciation, in particular, in the placement of accents and, in fact, in erudition, then everything falls into place, and there is no need to rename anything.

For example, the word “sucker,” according to Dahl’s dictionary, means a fish of the salmon family that has spawned and stands in the pool to get sick. At least five villages in Russia are not named BukhAlovo, and Bathalovo, from the word “bukh”, that is, a loud sound, or “uh”, as if an eagle owl is hooting. “Dubinushka, let’s whoop, she’ll go on her own,” remember the classics.

However, enough scientific research. Anyone who has the desire can independently study this issue in detail at their leisure. This is correct, for knowledge is light, and not learning is darkness.

Although, this is probably not very good when the great and mighty Russian language is literally oversaturated with slang and frankly criminal idioms. As a result, everything appears exclusively in black. But we got distracted again.

“What is the big politics here?” you ask. But here’s the thing: the people’s representatives seem to have completely forgotten that they are people’s people, and did not see the need to ask the electorate what they think about it. Meanwhile, according to the legislation of the Russian Federation, renaming settlements is the prerogative of local authorities, taking into account the opinions of the living population.

By the way, the latter did not ask for anything like that. Moreover, many are completely satisfied, in particular, because these names attract tourists and, most importantly, make them feel different from everyone else. It seems like a small thing, but it’s a telling story.

Unfortunately, this often happens in our country when people are not asked and thought for them. But that’s not all.

We understand that there is little chance of the “New People” initiative being accepted, because its main purpose is not to correct the names, but to colorize the information agenda in order to somehow distract the Russian people from the sad thoughts that are often evoked by the international and any other situation.

And now we see another difficulty – there is a clear shortage of positive news in the country to sincerely please our people. Nevertheless, I would like to praise the creative group of political strategists, who came up with a good non-standard move. Well done, in a word.
