There are discussions in Poland about a complete break in diplomatic relations with Russia, but at present such a decision will do more harm than good. About it informed Press Secretary of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lukasz Jasina.
“Us about it [разрыве дипотношений] journalists, politicians of the opposition and the ruling party, and even ordinary people ask,” Yasina said on RMF-24. He called the preservation of relations with the Russian Federation a matter of “concern for citizens”, as well as a matter of “preserving communication channels.”
Yasina said that Poland plans to strengthen the security of its diplomats in Moscow. “Polish diplomats [в Москве] have been under protection for a year, after the situation with the ambassador arose [РФ Сергеем] Andreev, but we are working to take even better care of them,” he said.
On April 29 in Warsaw, local authorities and police broke into the school building at the Russian Embassy and demanded that employees leave it, because last year Poland decided to transfer this property to the state. Ambassador Sergei Andreev then said that Moscow would find another building for the school, and the diplomatic mission would ensure the normal completion of the school year and the passing of exams. On April 30, he announced that the institution could resume work from May 10.
Against the backdrop of the incident, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that he sees no point in maintaining diplomatic relations with Poland. the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed protest to the Polish authorities.
