Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the military construction complex in 2023 was aimed at creating the infrastructure of nuclear deterrent forces, as well as improving airfields and basing systems for the Navy. The words of the head of the military department are quoted by TASS.
As Mr. Shoigu said at the Unified Day of Acceptance of Military Products, the creation of such infrastructure was aimed at the needs of the special operation. In total, 2,772 buildings and structures of military significance were built in 2023.
Sergei Shoigu also said that in 2023 “it was possible to increase the production of the main in-demand weapons and ammunition significantly.” According to him, this was facilitated by the expansion and modernization of production facilities. “At many enterprises, new workshops, lines, and areas equipped with high-tech equipment have been put into operation,” noted the head of the Ministry of Defense.
He emphasized that the achieved indicators required a “significant” number of qualified specialists. Many of the enterprises, Mr. Shoigu specified, were forced to switch to a round-the-clock work schedule. According to the head of the military department, “all this has the most favorable effect on increasing the prestige of blue-collar professions.”
At the beginning of January, Sergei Shoigu visited the enterprises of the military-industrial complex “Raduga GMKB named after A. Ya. Bereznyak” in the Moscow region. Then he ordered the modernization of conventional ammunition to high-precision ammunition. During a visit to the enterprise on January 18, the minister instructed to increase the range of all guided missiles to 300 km or more. Before this, Raduga reported that since the beginning of the military operation, the volume of production of high-precision weapons had been increased fivefold.
