The pilots of the Russian Federation and Belarus worked out attacks on air defense and command posts during the exercises

Russian and Belarusian pilots completed the tasks of combat use as part of a joint tactical flight exercise, having worked out strikes against air defense and command posts of a mock enemy, reported Ministry of Defense of Belarus.

“All the crews worked according to the planned task. The Belarusian Su-30SMs covered the strike group of Russian Su-34 bombers, which worked on the assigned targets,” they said.

After that, attack aircraft attacked air defense systems and command posts of a mock enemy, added to the Ministry of Defense, and Mi-24 helicopters attacked strongholds. The crew of the Mi-8MTV-5 worked out search and rescue missions.

The first Russian-Belarusian tactical flight exercises in 2023 started on January 16 in Belarus, Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft arrived in the republic on January 8. The exercises will last until February 1.

On October 10, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced the increased threats that come from Western countries against the republic. In particular, he claimed that Kyiv was working on opening a second front on the border with Belarus. In this regard, Russia and Belarus agreed to deploy a joint regional group of troops. Lukashenka instructed to deploy a small part of the Russian military in the territory of the republic. On October 31, the Belarusian leader signed a decree on the establishment of joint combat training centers with Russia for the military of the two countries.

January 12 Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces Oleg Salyukov visited at one of the Belarusian training grounds, where he heard reports on the conduct of combat coordination as part of a regional group of troops. On the same day, Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystaiko said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had to take away part of their forces to the border with Belarus, because they fear an offensive from there.
