It is also reported that the US State Department told Congress about plans to allocate another $ 2 billion in military assistance to Ukraine and neighboring countries. It is specified that $1 billion will go to strengthening the security of Ukraine, and another $1 billion will be transferred to neighbors.
The Pentagon reported that since January 2021, the United States has allocated $15.2 billion in assistance to Ukraine to ensure the country’s security. Of these, Kyiv has received $14.5 billion since the beginning of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.
Earlier today in Kyiv on an unannounced visit arrived US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on the background of the allocation of $ 2 billion to Ukraine. This visit was the third for Blinken since the start of the special operation and the fifth as head of the State Department.
In late August, Biden announced a $2.98 billion aid package for Ukraine. This tranche is expected to allow Ukraine to purchase air defense systems, artillery systems, various ammunition, drones and radars to ensure “long-term self-defense.”
