The Pentagon has no evidence that the missiles that fell today in Poland could be Russian. This was stated by the press secretary of the US military department, Brigadier General of the US Air Force Patrick Ryder, transmits TASS.
According to a spokesman for the US Department of Defense, the department has not yet commented on possible steps that could be taken in response to events in Poland. Also, the department urged not to speculate about the origin of missiles without facts.
“I have nothing to inform you at this stage,” Ryder added, answering a question about contacts between the United States and Poland after the incident on the territory of the latter.
At the same time, a diplomatic source in Brussels declared the agency that the reaction of NATO, of which Poland is a member, will depend on the ownership of the fallen missiles.
Earlier today, Polish media reported that two rockets fell on the territory of the country, killing two people. Against the backdrop of these events, the Polish authorities called an urgent meeting of the national security committee. It was noted that the explosions occurred in the village of Pszewodow in eastern Poland, their cause was not officially named.
Prior to this, the Ukrainian media and officials reported explosions on the country’s energy infrastructure.
Military commissar Evgeny Poddubny said that a fragment of a rocket that fell in Poland is ammunition for the S-300 complex, which is in service with Ukraine. “This is the ammunition of the S-300 air defense system and it is likely that the strike was inflicted by the Kyiv regime unintentionally as a result of the anti-missile defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enemy often uses expired ammunition, wrote he is in his Telegram channel. At the same time, he suggested that Western countries could still take advantage of this incident in order to provoke an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
