The Parliament of Moldova, at the expense of the votes of members of the ruling Action and Solidarity party, approved in the first reading a bill on renaming the state language from Moldovan to Romanian, report “RIA Novosti” with reference to the speaker Igor Grosu.
“The bill was approved in the first reading by the votes of 56 deputies,” he said.
Earlier, as the agency notes, the party registered in the parliament an initiative related to the renaming of the Moldovan language into Romanian. During the voting, opposition deputies chanted “shame” and “early elections.”
According to the authors of the aforementioned initiative, the adopted law aims to comply with the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the language issue. So, according to this project, the words “Moldovan language” in any grammatical form are replaced by “Romanian language”. At the same time, words such as “state language”, “mother tongue” and “official language” are also replaced by “Romanian”. This happens if the official language of Moldova is meant.
