The Orthodox Church of Ukraine excluded the name of Alexander Nevsky from the church calendar

The Orthodox Church of Ukraine excluded the holy blessed prince Alexander Nevsky from the list of commemorated saints, according to the OCU website.

The decision was made by the synod, the statement said.

Prince Alexander Nevsky was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in 1547.

The OCU appeared in 2018. This decision of the Russian Orthodox Church and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church called the unification council at which this decision was made and the tomos of autocephaly “canonically insignificant.”
