The Union of Road Carriers of Slovakia, which organized an indefinite blockade of the Vysne-Niemecke road checkpoint on the country’s border with Ukraine, rejected assumptions about the political motivation of the action and its connection with Russia.
As the organization’s leadership wrote on social networks, it “categorically distances itself from politics and opinions that we are connected with Russia.”
Earlier, the press service of the Union of Road Carriers of Slovakia issued a statement saying about the start of the protest at a checkpoint on the border with Ukraine. The organizers intend to get the European Commission to restore the canceled permit system for commercial carriers in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Igor Bratchikov and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. Before that, Fico received the American ambassador, emphasizing that he treated the representatives of both countries with respect, since “doesn’t wear black and white glasses”.
