The head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, said that the official results of the presidential election will be summed up at a meeting on Thursday, March 21. She added that the turnout was a record in the entire history of presidential campaigns in Russia.

“Precinct election commissions across the country have almost completed their work. 99.74% of the protocols have already been entered into the state automated system “Elections”, so we can rightfully sum up the results of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation,” Ella Pamfilova said at a briefing at the Central Election Commission (quote from TASS).

The head of the Central Election Commission also reported that almost 10 million people were able to vote at polling stations according to their location, and not according to their registration. The turnout for the elections, according to her, was a record in the modern history of Russia – 87.1 million people (77.44%).

The presidential elections, as Ella Pamfilova added, showed that the Russian people are united. According to her, Russian citizens felt proud that “we can defend the country.” She also said that the past presidential campaign was characterized by an unprecedented degree of external influence.

The Russian presidential elections took place from March 15 to 17. After processing 99.7% of the ballots, the incumbent President Vladimir Putin dials 87.31% of votes, Nikolai Kharitonov from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation – 4.30%, Vladislav Davankov from New People – 3.83%, Leonid Slutsky from the Liberal Democratic Party – 3.21%. The turnout in all regions was 74.22% (data as of 18:00 Moscow time), the turnout of voters registered in the DEG was 94%.
