In 2023, the number of Russians who are idle decreased by 75%, and the number of citizens working part-time decreased by 76%, said Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova during a meeting of an internal working group in the government. According to her, the unemployment rate in Russia is 2.9%.

According to Ms. Golikova, in 2023 the number of Russian workers who are idle decreased from 77 thousand to 19 thousand people. The number of part-time employees decreased from 71 thousand to 17 thousand people.

“The unemployment rate in the country, according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization, remains at the historical minimum of 2.9%, the growth of real wages for 10 months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 amounted to 7.7%. At the end of 2023, employment support measures were provided to 366 thousand citizens, 672 thousand low-income citizens entered into social contracts,” said Tatyana Golikova (quoted from website government).

Based on the results of the meeting, it was instructed to develop a “road map” for the Republic of Tyva. The region lags behind the unemployment average, according to government data. In Tyva it is 4.6%. A work plan to “correct current trends” in the labor market in the Republic of Dagestan was also reviewed.
