The number of registered unemployed in Russia for 2022 decreased by almost 30%

By the end of 2022, the number of registered unemployed in Russia amounted to 564 thousand people. This is almost 30% lower than a year earlier (777 thousand people), said the secretariat of Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova. She claims that the unemployment situation remains stable.
According to the secretariat, the average duration of a job search in Russia increased from 4.3 to 4.6 months. The average job search time with the help of career consultants is about 3.5 months. “Compared to the beginning of the year, the number of registered unemployed has decreased by 5,000 and now stands at 559,000 people,” the Deputy Prime Minister added (quoted by TASS).
The secretariat clarified that since March 2022, in 68 regions of Russia, the unemployment rate has decreased, in four it has not changed, in 13 it has increased. The largest increase was recorded in Altai, in the Leningrad region, Khakassia, St. Petersburg and the Kemerovo region.
Rosstat informedthat in November 2022 the number of unemployed in Russia decreased to 2.7 million people, and the unemployment rate renewed its historical low, falling to 3.7% of the economically active population. Deteriorating demographics contributed the most to this decline. As of the beginning of February, the number of registered unemployed in the country decreased up to 548 thousand
