The competition for the post of head of Izhevsk will be held on August 24. The corresponding decision at the session was made by the deputies of the City Duma of the capital of Udmurtia. From July 5 to August 7, documents will be accepted from those wishing to participate in the competition.
The applicant must be at least 21 years old, have a college degree and leadership skills, and be familiar with federal and state laws. Together with the documents, he needs to submit his city development program. They will be considered by a specially created competitive commission. It included the chairman of the City Duma Farit Gubaev, his deputy, the chairman of the standing commission on local self-government, as well as the leaders of the three factions United Russia, the Communist Party and the Liberal Democratic Party. Another six members of the competition commission will be determined by the head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov.
Based on the results of full-time defense by candidates of their programs, the competitive commission will determine at least two best ones. Of these, the deputies of the City Duma will elect a new mayor. An extraordinary session of the municipal parliament has been tentatively scheduled for September 5.
The previous head of Izhevsk Oleg Bekmemetiev ahead of schedule left a post of his own free will in connection with the transition to a new job at the end of May. He has led the administration of the capital of Udmurtia since the fall of 2018. The new appointment of Mr. Bekmemetyev has not yet been reported.
