The Netherlands will announce new details of the MH17 investigation in the spring of 2023

In the spring of 2023, the Dutch prosecutor’s office will present the results of an investigation into the crew of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system, which shot down a Boeing 777 in 2014, flying MH17 from Amsterdam to Malaysian Kuala Lumpur. “This investigation concerns the identification of the crew members of the Buk air defense missile system and the decision-making process on its deployment,” the representative of the Dutch prosecutor’s office specified.
On November 17, a court in The Hague found that flight MH17 had been shot down by a Buk anti-aircraft missile system from a field near Pervomaisky. At the same time, it was noted that it was impossible to determine who gave the command to launch a missile at an aircraft due to a number of gaps in the investigation.
Guilty in the crash of Boeing 777 trial acknowledged Igor Girkin (Strelkov), Sergei Dubinsky (Gloomy) and Leonid Kharchenko (Mole). They were sentenced to life imprisonment, and the convicts must also pay the relatives of the victims at least 16 million euros in compensation.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation called this judgment is “politically motivated”. According to diplomats, the proceedings were based on a “political order”. Also in the Kremlin doubted in the objectivity of the proceedings, since the Russian side was initially excluded from the investigation. Commenting on the decision of the court in The Hague, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov pointed out the need for a “deep analysis” of the court decision.
Boeing 777 of Malaysian Airlines, following flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed on July 17, 2014 in the Donetsk region. There were 298 people on board, all of them died.
