Military expert, former American army officer Stanislav Krapivnik, in a conversation with MK, explained the essence of the scandal with the Pentagon chief and assessed the version of the injury of the American general in Ukraine.

The sudden disappearance of Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin for several days at the beginning of the year gave rise to a wave of rumors. One version: a high-ranking American military officer arrived in Ukraine and was wounded during one of the massive strikes on the locations of NATO specialists.

Military reporter Alexander Sladkov added “fuel to the fire” by ironically commenting on the disappearance of an American soldier: “The US Secretary of Defense disappeared from the radar, even Biden noticed it. It seems like Lloyd said he was sick and even gave a not very good diagnosis. But then the public began to wonder whether old Lloyd had ended up at the wrong moment in the most unnecessary place in a hotel in Kharkov. However, after the start of the bombing of Yemen by the American and British armies, Lloyd Austin showed up, albeit indirectly. According to some reports, he directed the attacks directly from his bed. “We hit targets related to Houthi drones, cruise missiles, radar systems and air traffic control capabilities,” he said in a statement.

– He has prostate cancer. He was hospitalized for surgery. After this he was sent home, but there he became even worse and was again taken to the hospital. This time he was admitted to intensive care in serious condition. And he stayed there for at least five days.

– Why did hospitalization make so much noise?

– The fact is that President Biden learned about the situation with the Pentagon chief only a few days later. However, Lloyd Austin’s deputy was on vacation and knew nothing about the operation. The Pentagon chief has not delegated his authority to any of his deputies. In addition, if the minister left for an operation at the end of December, it is not clear who gave the order to strike the pro-Iranian armed forces in Iraq, and then the Houthis? After all, someone did this? So far it is clear that this is not Lloyd Austin. And not his deputy, who was on vacation.

– Maybe the operation didn’t promise to be difficult, that’s why he didn’t leave a deputy?

– Officially, he was obliged to transfer his powers. This is done even if the minister goes on vacation for one day. There are no absolutely safe medical procedures. Therefore, he must transfer his powers in writing to one of his deputies for this period. He didn’t do any of this.

– They say that Lloyd Austin could have been hit by a missile attack when he allegedly came to Ukraine at the end of December.

– He was in Kyiv at the end of November. At the end of December he was already in the hospital. It’s just that no one told Biden about his hospitalization. Biden, in his condition, has little to say now.
