The Russian Ministry of Transport proposed identifying a single operator to ensure the safety of road and rail transport on the Crimean Bridge. This is stated in the draft decree of the Russian President, the developer of which is the ministry.

“To the Government of the Russian Federation within 6 months: to determine a single operator to ensure transport security… Establish the powers and tasks of a single operator to ensure transport security,” says the draft decree, which was published on portal legal acts.

The explanatory note states that the determination of a single operator will improve the transport security system on the Crimean Bridge and prevent “acts of illegal interference.” The crossing infrastructure includes more than 30 objects. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the FSB, the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Guard, as well as Rosavtodor and Roszheldor were appointed co-executors of the project.

The Crimean Bridge was attacked in October 2022 and July 2023. Last September, the Ministry of Defense also reported three naval drone attacks on the crossing.
