How many foreigners are there in Russia?
There are about 6.4 million foreign citizens in Russia, most of whom entered the country for work purposes, Valentina Kazakova, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Migration Issues, reported in November 2023. In July 2023, Vedomosti, citing a representative of the Ministry of Labor, wrote that by 2030 the number of labor migrants in Russia will be 3.5 million people. According to the forecast, in seven years the share of foreigners in domestic companies will increase to 4.7% of all employees. The department noted then that the demand for foreign workers is mainly concentrated in the field of retail, transportation, service and construction.
