The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to ban the export of scrap precious metals from Russia

The export of waste and scrap precious metals from Russia should be limited for six months. This initiative was made by the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, as follows from the draft regulatory legal acts published on the portal project resolutions.
“Establish from November 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024 a ban on the export from the Russian Federation of waste and scrap of precious metals or metals clad with precious metals, other waste and scrap containing precious metal or compounds of precious metals, mainly used for the extraction of precious metals,” the document clarifies.
The government introduced a similar ban from September 1, 2022. The restriction was in effect until the end of February 2023.
The Cabinet decree did not apply to the export from the country of cathode antimony in ingots, as well as samples taken from batches of scrap and waste of precious metals (weight of 1 sample – no more than 500 g), if they were exported by organizations included in the refining of precious metals.
