Low-quality goods will not break through at the checkout
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia plans to completely eliminate the possibility of selling prohibited and expired goods. In the near future, the department proposes to conduct an experiment on the use of the “Honest Sign” digital marking system for this purpose.
Digital labeling of goods “Honest Sign” has been introduced in Russia since 2019. Thanks to it, the system tracks the path of goods from production to the store’s checkout. The marking is applied to the packaging and is a pixel square similar to a QR code, in which information about the manufacturer, date and place of production, composition and expiration date is encrypted, and in the case of dairy products, also all product documentation.
Today, along with dairy products, bottled mineral water, tobacco, medicines, car tires, perfumes, shoes, fur coats and cameras, etc. are already labeled. substitutes for cigarettes and liquids for them. Thanks to the labeling of goods with a code, information about them is available to all regulatory authorities, in particular, Rospotrebnadzor, Roszdravnadzor, relevant ministries, etc. Consumers can also find out everything they need about a product by downloading the Honest Sign mobile application. By scanning the code, the buyer can find out right in the store whether the product is suitable. If everything is normal, a green signal will appear on the screen, if not, a red one. In the latter case, the buyer can send a complaint to the supervisory authorities in a few clicks.
The press service of the operator of the Chestny Znak system said that now, when selling illegal or expired goods, the cash register signals this to the controlling authorities, which, on this basis, conduct an inspection. The Ministry of Industry and Trade suggests, in case of fixing deviations, simply prohibit the sale of goods, that is, it will not break through at the checkout. This is the experiment, which, if adopted, will begin in December this year and last until August 1 next year. If the experience is successful, this practice will become the rule for all commercial enterprises.
