Perfumery and cosmetics brands Lancome, Redken, Yves Saint Laurent, Helena Rubinstein, Valentino, Giorgio Armani and Kerastase are included in the list for parallel import, follows from the message of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the Telegram channel.
“The changes affected the list of exceptions to perfumery and cosmetic products. Some brands have been removed from the list of exceptions, as there are not enough goods from these manufacturers in retail chains, in particular Lancôme, Redken, Yves Saint Laurent, Helena Rubinstein, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Kerastase, ”the message follows.
The ministry noted that monitoring of the situation with import supplies will continue and, if necessary, certain items will be added or excluded to the list.
Parallel import involves the importation of original goods into the country without the permission of the copyright holder or manufacturer. In Russia, this measure came into effect on March 29, 2022 in response to Western sanctions.
Foreign companies began to reduce their presence in Russia against the backdrop of a military operation in Ukraine, which served as a pretext for the introduction of large-scale economic sanctions against Moscow by Western countries.
In particular, the British manufacturer of perfumes and cosmetics Lush will close a third of its stores in Russia and lay off about 200 employees after the suspension of deliveries of products to the country, Dmitry Azarov, the main owner of the Russian network, said earlier. In March, the decision to suspend supplies to Russia was made by the Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido.
Prior to this, the French cosmetics manufacturer L’Oreal also announced the temporary closure of its stores in Russia and the cessation of sales in the country through its own online stores. Store closures were also announced by Estee Lauder, which, in particular, owns the brands MAC, Clinique and Bobbi Brown. On March 7, Sephora, an American chain of cosmetics stores, announced similar measures.
