The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced its readiness to extend the digital excise tax on beer and sweet water

The digital excise tax can be extended to beer and sweet water, said Vladislav Zaslavsky, director of the Department for the Digital Marking of Goods of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The first stage in Russia is planned to transfer tobacco and cigarettes to digital excise duty. “I hope that the road map of the Ministry of Finance will be fully implemented by the end of this year. Accordingly, we declare our readiness to scale such projects for beer, beer drinks and sweet water, which are also subject to labeling,” clarified Zaslavsky (quote from Interfax).

It will be possible to start implementing the project on digital excise when “traceability for beer and sweet water” is achieved, it will be possible to fully switch to this mechanism after the entry of all labeling requirements, the director of the department specified.

At the end of May reportedthat the Ministry of Finance roadmap provides for the introduction of a digital excise instead of a paper one on tobacco and beer in early 2024. A pilot project to use labeling and traceability data for desk tax audits was to be launched in May this year and could last until July 2024. Council on the Development of the Tobacco Industry estimated that the rejection of paper excise could save 2 billion rubles. annually.

Previously became knownthat from June 1 to August 31, an experiment on the labeling of non-alcoholic carbonated drinks and juices will be carried out. It is planned that the labeling will be tested by companies selling packaged water and brewing products, as they have the necessary technical solutions and experience.
