A ban on the purchase of foreign drones for the implementation of a civil state order may be introduced before the end of this year. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Vasily Osmakov, transmits Prime.
“Until the end of the year, we will introduce prohibitive restrictions on the purchase of foreign drones for the purposes of implementing the state civil order,” the deputy minister said at a session of the Innoprom industrial exhibition.
Osmakov also said at the session that in September 2023 it is planned to introduce a scoring system for assessing the localization of UAVs. The Ministry of Industry and Trade prepared a project for extending the localization point system to drones in June.
In autumn 2020 Vedomosti wrotethat the government intends to limit the possibility of purchasing foreign unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for state and municipal needs.
Then the general director of the Aeronet association (preparing a draft resolution together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance) Gleb Babintsev said that the restrictions would affect all UAS purchased through the public procurement mechanism for state needs. According to him, such systems, operating at low altitude, are able to receive very accurate and detailed information related to state secrets.
