The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro called for the introduction of visas for Russians

Montenegro should introduce visas for Russian citizens, said Foreign Minister Ranko Krivokapic. The Foreign Ministry believes that Montenegro should be on the side of the European Union in everything, transmits with reference to the agency agency Dan.
The ministry noted that Montenegro should take the side of the EU, including the issue of suspension of the visa facilitation agreement with Russia. So far, Russian citizens can enter Montenegro with a passport and stay in the republic for up to 90 days.
“Montenegro is a devoted partner of the European Union and the Foreign Minister believes that our country should fully join the EU in this decision,” the Foreign Ministry said.
If the government of Montenegro supports the Krivokapic initiative, then such a decision will involve the introduction of visas for citizens of the Russian Federation.
According to the agency, more than 48,000 Russians entered Montenegro in 2022, while 41,802 Russian tourists visited the country during the same period last year.
In March, Montenegro joined the EU sanctions against Russia. However, the country is not a member of the EU. The authorities promised to carry out their policy towards Russia because of the conflict in Ukraine in full accordance with the actions of the European Union.
On June 10, Montenegrin Interior Minister Filip Adzic warned that 44 properties owned by Russian citizens would be frozen in the country. According to him, this will be done within the framework of sanctions against Russia. Republic start to freeze real estate of Russians at the end of July.
