The Ministry of Finance supports an increase in the fine for driving without an OSAGO policy, declared Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev at a thematic meeting in the Federation Council.
“The situation is pretty egregious. We have discussed this many times, and the Ministry of Finance, of course, supports increasing the fine to an economically reasonable level… This, of course, is not 800 rubles. I think there should be at least 5,000,” Mr. Moiseev pointed out.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister stressed that the absence of an OSAGO policy is a continuing violation, and this must be taken into account when adjusting the rules. “If a person pays 800 rubles for each camera, I think the fines can not be increased,” summed up Mr. Moiseev.
Raise the fines for driving a car without an OSAGO policy to 5 thousand rubles. December suggested in the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA). The union then indicated that the amount of the penalty (800 rubles) had not changed for the past 18 years.
In March, Kommersant found out that the Bank of Russia would supervise a project to use traffic cameras to check whether drivers have a “car citizen”. So far, they plan to fine for the lack of a policy no more than once a day.
More about this – in the material “Kommersant” “The Central Bank took on traffic offenders”.
