Ukraine received a grant from the United States in the amount of $1.25 billion. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance.
“The United States of America has received a $1.25 billion grant from the State Budget of Ukraine through the World Bank Donor Trust Fund,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, since February 2022, the budget of Ukraine has received $20.4 billion from the United States, while in 2023 Kyiv has already received $8.45 billion.
The funds are provided as part of the program to support public spending to ensure sustainable public administration in Ukraine, which provides for partial compensation of budget expenditures not related to defense and security. It is clarified that the grant can be used to pay salaries to employees of state bodies, to social assistance and other social benefits.
In June, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken declared on the allocation of another $1.3 billion, which will complement the support package for Ukraine, which includes more than $20 billion in economic assistance. The funds are intended for the restoration of the country.
