The Ministry of Finance lowered the estimate of the budget deficit in the first quarter by 314 billion rubles

The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation has updated the estimate of the federal budget deficit in the first quarter of 2023 – it was executed with a deficit of 2.086 trillion rubles. Thus, the indicator was revised downward by RUB 314 billion, informs Interfax with reference to the Ministry of Finance.

In January-March 2023, according to preliminary estimates, the budget deficit amounted to 2.4 trillion rubles, the agency reported earlier.

From the data of the Ministry of Finance, it follows that the amount of expenses in the first quarter was adjusted. Previously, they were estimated at 8.077 trillion rubles, and now at 7.765 trillion rubles. The amount of income was also clarified – it amounted to 5.679 trillion rubles. instead of the previously announced 5.677 trillion rubles.

In January-February, the deficit was less than the initial estimate and amounted to 2.379 trillion rubles. – this is 202 billion rubles. less than expected. In March, the budget surplus amounted to 293 billion rubles.

Earlier, Vedomosti wrote that federal budget revenues amounted to 5.7 trillion rubles. according to the results of January – March 2023, which is 21% lower than the first quarter of 2022. The decrease is due to a decrease in income from energy exports, the Ministry of Finance explained then.
