In the first quarter of 2024, the federal budget deficit, according to preliminary estimates from the Ministry of Finance, amounted to 607 billion rubles. Revenue amounted to RUB 8,719 billion, which is 53.5% higher than in the same period last year.

The volume of budget expenditures is tentatively estimated at 9,326 billion rubles. This is 20.1% higher than the previous year. Oil and gas budget revenues increased by 79.1%, to 2.928 trillion rubles, non-oil and gas revenues – by 43.2%, to 5.791 trillion rubles, follows from press release ministries.

According to the latest forecast of the Ministry of Economy, the average export price for Russian oil in 2024 will be $71.3 per barrel. Budget expenditures are projected at 36.6 trillion rubles, revenues at 35 trillion rubles, and a deficit at 1.595 trillion rubles, or 0.9% of GDP. In March, oil and gas revenues exceeded those in February by almost 40% and amounted to 1.308 trillion rubles.
