The Ministry of Finance spoke about possible changes in the principles for calculating taxes on oil revenues with the linkage of the price of the Russian grade Urals to foreign brands. The first option is to reduce the maximum discount to Brent from the current $25 to $20. The fact that such a possibility is being discussed was told to Vedomosti by State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Finance Alexei Sazanov.
The Ministry of Finance calculates the amount of taxes on the sale of Urals based on the market price of the reference grade reduced by the amount of the discount. That is, if Brent costs $75, then the agency takes the price of Urals equal to $50. “Reducing the Urals discount to Brent from $25 to $20 is being discussed, but there is no decision on this issue yet and, accordingly, the date when this new price limit may come into effect has not been determined,” Sazanov said.
