The Ministry of Finance announced the absence of plans to adjust the tax regime for the self-employed

The Ministry of Finance is not considering capping or other adjustments to the professional income tax (PIT) for the self-employed. Since the NAP was introduced in an experimental format, the department explained, no changes are planned until the analysis of the results after its expiration in 2028. Earlier today, December 1, Deputy Director of the Department of Tax and Customs Policy of the Ministry of Finance Vitaly Prokaev proposed limit the effect of the NAP.

“The course of the experiment is periodically evaluated by the ministry, taking into account the information received from the Federal Tax Service of Russia, as well as the appeals of its participants. The issue of making adjustments to the basic parameters of this mode, as well as the decision to extend the experiment, should be considered after the completion of the experiment and analysis of its results,” TASS in the press service of the Ministry of Finance.

Vitaly Prokaev, during a round table in the Federation Council, expressed the opinion that the services of the self-employed should be provided mainly to individuals. According to him, the tax regime for the self-employed should be “narrowed”. A tax on professional income for self-employed citizens was introduced in 2019. The self-employed pay tax on income from self-employment at a reduced rate of 4% when providing services to individuals and 6% when providing services to legal entities.
