The Ministry of Economic Development predicted an increase in tourist flow in Russia by 5.2%

In 2023, the number of tourists traveling in Russia will increase by 7 million people. This forecast was given by Deputy Minister of Economic Development Maxim Kolesnikov at a meeting on preparations for the tourist season.

“We predict a 5.2% increase in tourist traffic throughout Russia, which is 7.3 million people. Including the growth of tourist flow in 18 tourist macro-regions – 5.5%, or plus 4.4 million people, ”he said (quote by Interfax).

According to Kolesnikov, tourists will make the largest number of trips in July. He added that collective accommodation facilities (hotels, hostels, etc.) in Russia will grow by 52%, or 3.8 million, and individual (rental of apartments and houses) – by 42%, or 3.5 million.

In March, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko informedthat in 2022 the number of travelers in Russia increased by 8% and amounted to 62.5 million people. In 2023, the Cabinet expects an increase in the number of tourist trips in Russia to 65 million.

In February, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin declaredthat in 2023, 12 million rubles will be allocated for the development of tourism within the country. He explained that these funds will be used to create a single architectural and cultural space in popular tourist places, landscaping, etc. According to him, one of the tasks is to “increase the attractiveness for visiting small settlements with a good, rich and interesting history.”
