The Ministry of Defense spoke about the supply of ammunition to the volunteers of the assault detachments

The Russian Ministry of Defense carries out regular deliveries of ammunition to volunteers of assault detachments who perform tasks as part of a special operation, in particular, to liberate Artemovsk in the DPR, the press service of the Russian defense department reported.

“Only for the period of two days from February 18 to February 20, 2023, the following were delivered to the volunteers of the assault detachments: 1660 rockets for multiple rocket launchers; 10171 ammunition for large-caliber cannon artillery and mortars; 980 tank ammo. All applications for the supply of ammunition for assault units are completed as soon as possible. So it was and so it will be,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Defense added that all applications for ammunition submitted by assault units will be fully provided within the next few days, and from February 25, supplies of ammunition “of the entire range” will begin according to the application for March.

“In total, over the past year, the needs of assault detachments for ammunition were met by 140% of the applications received. This is our priority,” the department stressed.

On February 20, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of PMC Wagner, said that a number of problems with providing the organization with ammunition remained. He noted that Russia has ammunition, and that “industry has reached the required volumes.” Prigozhin added that he was unable to solve this problem, “despite all his acquaintances and connections.” According to him, no decisions are being made in this direction.

The founder of Wagner said that requests for ammunition are written daily and transferred “to higher authorities”, but “no one knows who should give an answer.” He stressed that those “who interfere with getting weapons are directly working for the enemy.”

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.

The fighters of the Wagner PMC actively take part in the battles with the Ukrainian troops, its attack aircraft have already managed to achieve the liberation of several settlements, they are currently involved in the battles for Artemovsk (the Ukrainian name is Bakhmut).
