The remnants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in Avdeevka are surrendering en masse, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Currently, the number of people who have surrendered is about 200 people. The corresponding report was presented to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who inspected the Center group of troops.
The commander of the group, Andrei Mordvichev, reported that the prisoners were taken during the cleansing of Avdeevka, and about 100 more people could also surrender.
On February 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin that the village of Avdeevka had completely come under the control of Russian forces. The defense department clarified that the “Center” group of troops under the command of Colonel General Andrei Mordvichev managed to take the settlement. The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized that Avdievka was a powerful defensive unit that was created by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
