Fighter aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 aircraft and a Mi-8 helicopter in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“Fighter aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down a MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force near the village of Koptevo in the DPR. Also, a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was shot down in the area of the Novovasilevka settlement of the DPR.
Over the past 24 hours, air defense systems have also intercepted nine HIMARS and Smerch multiple rocket launchers. In addition, Russian forces destroyed five Ukrainian drones in the DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
On March 16, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced the transfer of four MiG-29s to Ukraine. He stressed that the equipment is in full working order. Following Poland, a similar decision was made by Slovakia. On March 23, the CTK news agency reported that Slovakia had handed over to Kyiv the first four of 13 MiG-29 fighter jets withdrawn from the national air force last year.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the supply of aircraft to Ukraine would not affect the course of the special operation, and all military equipment would be destroyed.
