Russian troops repelled 14 attacks over the past day in four directions in the zone of the special operation in Ukraine, reported The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in its daily summary.
In the Zaporozhye direction, units of the 82nd air assault brigade from the strategic reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out five attacks near the village of Rabotino. In the Kupyansk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine made four attempts to move forward in the areas of the settlements of Sinkovka in the Kharkov region and Novoselovskoe in the Luhansk People’s Republic. Three more attacks were repelled in the direction of the villages of Krasnogorovka and Nevelskoye in the DPR (Donetsk direction) and two in the area of the village of Chervonaya Dibrova in the LPR (Krasnolymansk).
The Russian forces, in turn, “improved the position along the front line” in the Kupyansk direction with the support of operational-tactical aviation and artillery fire. Also, ammunition depots of the forces of the 103rd Terodefense Brigade of Ukraine in the LPR and the 65th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region were destroyed. Russian air defense forces shot down a Ukrainian Su-25 in the sky over the village of Staroraiskoye and intercepted three missiles of Uragan and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems.
In its report dated August 20, the Ministry of Defense reported on the destruction of field ammunition depots of Ukrainian units in the areas of Konstantinovka and Ivano-Daryevka in the DPR and in the Ochakov area of the Nikolaev region. In addition, the military department reported on the repulsion of eight attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region, six in the DPR and six more in the Kupyan direction in the Kharkov region and the LPR.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been conducting offensive operations for more than two months, since the beginning of June. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated about the lack of success of the Ukrainian army and pointed to the heavy losses of the enemy. At the same time, Russian troops are conducting an offensive in the Kupyansk direction.
