Ukrainian pilots will master the F-16 much faster than in a standard six months, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said.
In his opinion, four months is enough for the Ukrainian military. He made such a conclusion based on the results of testing two Ukrainians in the United States.
“I am optimistic that our experienced pilots will probably fly faster … They will not just fly, but freely: with maneuver, at night, in pairs. I think four months is realistic. We know how to learn,” Reznikov said.
He also acknowledged that the aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to receive it until 2024.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented at the SPIEF plenary session on the transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine. In particular, the Russian leader noted that the Russian Federation will have to look at how and where to hit F-16 aircraft if they are located at air bases outside Ukraine and used in combat operations. “This is a serious danger of drawing NATO further into the conflict,” he warned.
