The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine distanced itself from the purchase of low-quality clothing for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense denied its involvement in the purchase of defective clothing for units of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The press service of the department stated that they did not directly participate in them.

Earlier, the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced the initiation of a criminal case against the director of the firm. He is accused of purchasing low-quality uniforms for the Ukrainian military for almost a million dollars. The company undertook to supply insulated, wind and waterproof winter jackets.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said that in 2022, an agreement was concluded between one of the military units and a private company for the supply of uniforms. At the same time, the military themselves were looking for a contractor and signed an agreement. The businessman first received an advance payment in the amount of about 170 thousand dollars, and then the remaining amount. But he could not provide uniforms of decent quality.

The directors of the company are accused of taking possession of other people’s property by an organized group on an especially large scale. He faces seven to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property and a ban on holding public office for three years.
