The Ministry of Defense denied reports about the breakthrough of the defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The situation in the zone of the special operation is under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, reports of defense breakthroughs do not correspond to reality. About it declared in the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

“Statements spread by individual telegram channels about “defense breakthroughs” that took place in various parts of the contact line do not correspond to reality,” the report said.

The department stressed that in the Kupyansky, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye directions, “active operations are not being carried out.” In the Krasnolimansky direction of the RF Armed Forces, two attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were repelled in the areas of the settlements of Kremennaya and Chervonaya Dibrova.

The Ministry of Defense reported on the ongoing fighting in the Artemivsk area (Ukrainian name is Bakhmut), on active actions to block Avdiivka and capture Maryinka, and on repulsing the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of the settlement of Maloilinovka in the Donetsk direction. In addition, during the day in this direction, the servicemen stopped three attempts at reconnaissance in force and repelled eight attacks on their positions.

The day before, on May 11, a number of war correspondents in their Telegram channels reported on the start of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, military commander Yevgeny Poddubny wrote that the Ukrainian army began to encircle Russian forces in the Artyomovsk direction and made attempts to “organize a breakthrough” in the Soledar area with the help of armored groups with tanks. He later clarified that “the enemy is waging local battles as part of a grand plan” – an offensive.

Ukraine announces a counteroffensive from the winter. On March 10, adviser to the head of the country’s presidential office, Mikhail Podolyak, said that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could begin within the next two months. On April 17, the American magazine Newsweek, citing secret documents leaked to the network, wrote that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could begin after the completion of the supply of Western weapons at the end of April. On May 5, Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye Region Yevgeny Balitsky said that the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces could begin in the coming days or even hours.
